Viva Elite launched in Sabah

Kota Kinabalu: Perodua launched its latest Viva variant, the Viva Elite Exclusive Edition in Sabah, Thursday.

The Viva Elite Exclusive Edition, which is equipped with new features, is the best selling Viva variant since it was launched in July 2009.

This new variant comes with a new colour - classy purple - and is aimed at both young urban male and female customers looking to buy their first car or families looking for an additional car.

The variant also comes in two other colours - midnight blue and ivory white.

Other special features include the Exclusive Edition grade mark, custom coloured alloy rims, leather wrapped steering wheels, exclusive meter combination design, silver painted door armrest and a stylish centre cluster with a dark purple metallic finish.

"We aim to sell 600 units of the Viva Elite Exclusive edition a month and complement the range of Viva variants currently under our line-up," said Perodua Managing Director Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh.

"A total of 240,000 Viva units have been sold since it was first launched in 2007 and the Viva Elite is the best selling variant from the model line-up, consisting of 41.4 per cent or 24,000 units from a total of 58,000 units of the Viva sold in the first 10 months of the year. That is an average of 2,400 Viva Elite units per month this year," he added.

Aminar said in East Malaysia, the Perodua Viva is the best selling model at nearly 50 per cent or 10,500 out of 21,300 sold in this region.

"Of the 21,300 vehicles sold in East Malaysia, Sabah contributes 46 per cent to our sales in this region and I believe that this market still has a lot of room to grow," he said.

He added that Perodua also had the lion's share of East Malaysia's total industry volume with nearly 31 per cent.

"East Malaysia is one of our fastest growing regions with nearly 14 per cent contribution or 21,300 vehicles to our overall sales so far this year.

"We aim to increase sales contribution from this region from its current 14 per cent to 20 per cent within five years," he said.
